WHO IS AMY FISHER?
Amy Elizabeth Fisher
Amy Elizabeth Fisher, born on August 21, 1974, gained notoriety in 1992 when, at the age of 17, she committed a violent act by shooting and causing severe injuries to Mary Jo Buttafuoco. At the time, Fisher was involved in a sexual relationship with Mary Jo’s husband, Joey Buttafuoco.
After first being charged with attempted murder in the first degree, she ultimately entered a guilty plea to first-degree aggravated assault and was sentenced to seven years in prison. Because of her age and the fact that she had an affair with a guy who was far older than her, she became dubbed as “the Long Island Lolita” in the tabloid media. In 1999, Fisher was granted parole, and she went on to pursue careers as a writer, a webcam model, and a pornographic performer.
The Formative Years of Amy Fisher
Amy Fisher was born on Long Island, New York, in Merrick. Her parents are Elliot Fisher and Roseann Fisher. Her father was Jewish, while her mother’s family was a blend of many various things, including English. Fisher’s early life was spent in Merrick. In 1990, when Fisher was a student at Kennedy High School in Bellmore, New York, she allegedly met Joey Buttafuoco, who was 35 years old at the time. This occurred when her father took his car to Buttafuoco’s auto body shop for repairs. It was then revealed that Fisher had an affair with him while she was underage, and she also admitted to damaging her own car multiple times as an excuse to visit him.
A Timeline of Amy Fisher’s Criminal Convictions
Crime and Incarceration
It all started when Buttafuoco’s wife, Mary Jo Buttafuoco, became the object of Fisher’s growing jealousy. With the help of Peter Guagenti, a Brooklyn auto supply salesman who also served as her getaway driver, Amy Fisher was able to get a pistol with a.25-caliber FIE Titan and proceeded to go to Buttafuoco’s home. Upon Mary Jo Buttafuoco’s arrival at the door, Fisher informed her about Joey Buttafuoco’s alleged affair with Fisher’s (imaginary) younger sister.
As evidence, Amy Fisher presented a T-shirt promoting Buttafuoco’s auto body shop. During the course of the chat, which lasted approximately fifteen minutes, Buttafuoco became increasingly agitated. After firmly instructing Fisher to leave, she nonchalantly turned her back and made her way back to the house. Fisher brandished the firearm, delivering two forceful blows to Buttafuoco before ultimately firing a fatal shot to her head. In the aftermath, she recounted how the gravely injured Buttafuoco collapsed onto her. The shirt and the revolver were abandoned by Fisher as she rushed towards the car, but she later came back to get them, and Guagenti drove away.
The physicians spent the night operating on Buttafuoco, and although they were unable to remove the bullet, they managed to preserve her life. Joey Buttafuoco suggested that Fisher might have been the gunman during his interview with the police. Mary Jo Buttafuoco was able to recognize Fisher from a photograph when she regained consciousness the following day. Arrest warrants were issued for Fisher, who faced attempted murder charges. On September 23, 1992, she accepted a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to first-degree assault.
The Tape
Amy Fishe and Paul Makely, the proprietor of a gym in Massapequa, had a chat that was videotaped and featured on the tabloid television show Hard Copy in September 1992. In the video, which was captured a few hours before she agreed to the plea in court, Fisher could be heard discussing her future. She stated that she desired to marry Makely so that he could visit her while she was incarcerated. Fisher indicated that her attorney was of the opinion that it was unlawful to require people to be married in order to participate in such visits, and as such she intended to challenge the law over this topic.
It was possible to hear Fisher on the tape stating that she wanted her name to be in the news so that she could make a lot of money and that such an act would keep her name in the press. She reasoned that if she was going through all of that agony and distress, then she ought to purchase a Ferrari.
Life in Jail
Fisher attracted the attention of the entire nation once she was arrested for the crime. In exchange for the rights to their story, the Fisher family was offered $80,000, and they agreed to accept the money in order to post bail. In December of 1992, Fisher was found guilty on many counts; however, she pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and was sentenced to a maximum of fifteen years in prison for her crime.
Fisher was incarcerated at the Albion Correctional Facility in New York for a period of seven years. Fisher asserted that she was sexually assaulted by a prison officer while she was incarcerated, and she pursued legal action for a period of time before ultimately abandoning the case.
Life After Jail
Fisher was released from prison in 1999 as a result of a fresh plea agreement, which was based on Mary Jo’s wishes. Following her release, Fisher began working as a columnist for the Long Island Press, where she was honored with a Media Award for Column/News from the Society of Professional Journalists in the year 2004.
In addition, Fisher is a vocal supporter of the rights of incarcerated individuals. If I Knew Then is the title of a book that she wrote about her experiences, and it was published in the year 2004. At the end of December 2005, Fisher resigned from her position at the Long Island Press.
Fisher and Mary Jo Buttafuoco got together in 2006 for a series of sessions that were broadcast on television for Entertainment Tonight and its spinoff, The Insider. Fisher expressed her desire to recover and move on with her life.
However, two years later, she stated, without providing any explanation, that she did not feel any pity for Mary Jo. In the end, Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco got together for the very first time at the Lingerie Bowl in 2006, specifically for the coin toss. Fisher made an appearance as a cast member in the fifth season of the reality television series Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which was shown on VH1 during the months of June and July in 2011.
Amy Fisher’s Personal Life
In 2003, Fisher tied the knot with Louis Bellera, and the couple became the parents of two children. Her daughter Ava Rose was born in 2005, while her son Brett was born in the year 2001. It was claimed on May 13, 2007, that Fisher had divorced her husband, and Joey Buttafuoco had divorced his fiancée, in an effort to reunite with each other or to present a concept for a reality show that would feature the two of them.
Career in Adult Entertainment and Sex Tapes Releases
On November 1, 2007, the Red Light District film published a teaser clip that showed Fisher naked while she was taking a shower and sunning herself in the sun. Both the consequences of breast surgery and a tattoo that was located around her navel were visible. On November 6, 2007, Fisher filed a lawsuit against Red Light District and its owner, David Joseph, alleging that the latter had violated his copyright and caused him additional damages.
On the other hand, by November 8, 2007, the website amyfisher.com, the ownership of which Fisher had previously fought to acquire, had started redirecting straight to the website of the Red Light District. At the beginning of January 2008, Fisher made the announcement that she had reached a settlement with Red Light and agreed to participate in a promotional appearance related to the matter. In the same announcement, it was stated that she and Bellera had resolved their differences.
On January 4, 2008, the promotional appearance was held at Retox, which is located in New York City. There were snippets of the video that were shown on The Howard Stern Show. When Fisher appeared as a guest on the Stern Show on March 6, 2008, one of the topics that was supposed to be discussed was her video. Within the first six minutes of her interview, Fisher fled the show after receiving a phone call from Jessica Buttafuoco, who is the daughter of Mary Jo Buttafuoco.
Later, a pay-per-view adult film titled Amy Fisher: Totally Nude & Exposed was released by Fisher on January 12, 2009. She also agreed to become a stripper and perform at club events on a monthly basis, and she signed a contract with Lee Entertainment to do so. Fisher stated that she intended to strip until her followers pleaded with her to put her clothes back on because she was too old to do something like that.
Also, the adult video Deep Inside Amy Fisher was released by DreamZone Entertainment in September 2010. The company referred to it as the first of eight films of this kind that Fisher would produce and in which she would also star. The film was first titled The Making of Amy Fisher: Porn Star when it was first announced by the firm in July 2010. During the month of June 2011, Fisher announced that she would no longer be producing pornographic films. Amy Fisher continues to work as a webcam model as of the year 2024.
